It appears that the Pallas’ cats residing at Miller Park Zoo have found a special connection, resulting in the arrival of some absolutely precious kittens.
The Bloomington zoo had a great announcement on Monday – they have welcomed five adorable Pallas’ cat kittens! This is the first time that the zoo has experienced such a happy occasion. In December, the zoo got a Pallas’ cat from the Czech Republic and had high hopes that it would mate with their existing cat. Their dreams seem to have come true as the two cats were a perfect match!
According to Jay Tetzloff, the Director of Miller Park Zoo, he is thrilled to share the news of a newly born Pallas’ Cat on International Pallas’ Cat Day. He emphasized that such births play a significant role in their conservation projects and will immensely benefit the overall survival of the species.
The zoo has stated that they take great care in their breeding program to ensure a diverse gene pool. They aim to introduce new genetic traits into the population by incorporating animals such as the Czech cat. The Pallas’ cat, which is native to Central Asia, is at risk of extinction due to the destruction of its natural habitat and has been classified as Near Threatened since 2002.
